Information about Paros

Paros is the third largest of the Cyclades group after Naxos and Andros, has developed into an important tourism centre in recent years.

A flat island, full of vineyards with a population of 8,000 occupied in agriculture, fishing and marble quarrying, although most are now involved in tourism due to its popularity as a holiday destination in recent years.

The capital and port of the island, Parikia, stands on the site of an ancient city. There is a picturesque Venetian castle and the courtyards of the houses are all painted white with pots of basil, jasmine and honeysuckle growing on the walls.
