Informatie over Fokis

The Prefecture of Fokis is located in central Greece and to the south it meets the Corinthian Gulf. An almost entirely mountainous area with the main peak of Mount Giona at 2,510 m and ending in the mountain range of Parnassos to the east, creating a haven for hikers, mountaineers, skiers and nature lovers.

The capital of the Prefecture, Amphissa, stands in the largest of the few valleys of Fokis. A beautiful town with views of Mount Elatos, 200 km from Athens nestled among vast olive plantations.

A special place is the ancient town of Delphi, which was the centre of the world to the Ancient Greeks. Today, attracting many visitors to the historical remains, the beauty of the majestic views of the mountains and the sea beneath. The area abounds with ancient remains, the ruins of the oracle, the theatre, the remains of the 'treasures', the sacred spring of Kastalia and an archaeological museum.
