Πληροφορίες για την Αίγινα

The island of Aegina comprises of a series of volcanic peaks in the centre and the south culminating in mount Zeus 532 m that was formally crowned by a temple to Zeus, which acted as a landmark for sailors, now known as Profitis Ilias.

The beautiful green villages are surrounded by pine forests and to the north and west the coastal plain and low hills are covered with trees producing pistachio nuts, almonds, olives and a few vineyards.

The main town of the island is also called Aegina and has a port linking it to Athens and other islands. There are many seafront tavernas offering fresh seafood caught by local fishermen. The island is famed for its pottery and home to the famous ancient temple of Aphaia. There are many beaches inviting you to swim in the clean seas of the island.
