Information about Ioannina

The Prefecture of Ioannina is located in the northern Epiros covering an area of 4,990 km2. The land is entirely mountainous with the highest peak of Mount Smolicas at 2,637 m. It has some large rivers and a high plain, at 450 m.

The capital city of Ioannina sits on the banks of Lake Ioannina, the prettiest city in Epirus with old buildings, narrow streets and many natural charms.

There are countless opportunities for extreme sports in beautiful natural locations and those who are interested in escaping from the city, will be impressed by the wild nature and the magical landscapes that a wait only half an hour away from the city of Ioannina.

The climate of the region is cool in the summer and very cold in winter.
