Information about Kassos

Kassos is the most southern of the Dodecanese group of islands and is only 27 nautical miles northeast of Crete. The mountainous island covers an area of 66 km2 and has a coastline of 50 km. Despite its small size, it was a significant naval power in the Aegean area.

The town of Kassos, or Fri as it is known, is also the port of the island where the fishing boats of the inhabitants are anchored. The sea around Kassos is a rich fishing ground.

There are tranquil beaches and a cave of archaeological interest.
