Information about Kalimnos

Kalimnos is a small island situated northeast of Kos and has quiet beaches and a picturesque port. The island is renowned for its sponge-divers, who, for centuries, travel all around the Mediterranean for sponges. Kalimnos has become a popular tourist destination in recent years.

Stark, yet beautiful mountains with terraced hillsides; tree-lined roads with breathtaking coastal views; sheltered, unspoilt beaches; fishing harbours and a peaceful valley of orange groves and many small farms add to the colour of the island.

Kalimnos has freshly caught swordfish and other shellfish served in its fish tavernas around the island.
