The Republic of Vietnam, also known as South Vietnam, was
created by the partition of Vietnam in 1954 after the defeat of France at the
Battle of Dien Bien Phu. South Vietnam's capital was Saigon and it was ruled by
an anti-Communist government. Ho Chi Minh City is in the centre of the region
with its high development in economy and commerce.
South Vietnam is regarded as a rice basket of the country, fertile
with agricultural plantations and irrigated by the Mekong River.
South Vietnam offers you a variety of experiences from the bustling
commercial city of Ho Chi Minh to the white sandy beach with crystal clear water
at Vung Tau; the fertile orchards around the Mekong Delta as Tay Ninh and My Tho
and even the historic traces of Cu Chi where the air of those years of struggle
still linger.
