Histoire :
Indebted to Tradition - the History of the Grand Park Hotel in Bad
Hofgastein
The Grand Park Hotel in Bad Hofgastein has a long tradition. It is a
historic building, giving the hotel its unique character marked by tradition,
quality and modernity.
The Hotel was built in 1912 in the classic style of the "Fin de Siècle". At
the time, however, it wasn't conceived as a luxurious 5-star hotel, but rather
as a Protestant Hospice. Sixteen years later, in 1928, the hospice was converted
to a hotel.
In 1953 the hotel was taken over by the Economic Chamber Salzburg as an
apprentice training centre for the hotel and catering departments of the
colleges in the surrounding area. For the first time, the combination of theory
and practice through a so-called training hotel was thus accomplished in Austria.
The tourism colleges of Salzburg and the Grand Park Hotel
therefore have a long joint history. The students at the tourism college Bad
Hofgastein are regarded as some of Austria's best new and upcoming talent - work
experience at the Grand Park Hotel is of great importance to the success of
their training.
A significant expansion to the hotel complex has been completed in December 2006
and is now open for your use - a brand-new Grand Park Spa. A fantastic
wellness complex of 2,000 square metres waits for you - fulfilling your every
wellness wish. The generous conversion of the Spa increased the size of the
indoor pool and that of the whirlpool, created new saunas and steam baths, and
added spacious restrooms. The fitness and gymnast hall has been redesigned and
the existing Spa and beauty treatment area has been converted and modernised.
All these measures were aimed at reinforcing the Grand Park Hotel's position
as the Health, Wellness and Beauty Treatment Hotel. Health is the ultimate asset
- it should be preserved at all times. The focus of the Hotel's wellness areas
is therefore firmly on prevention.

what our chef aspires to - no more, no less. Please take a seat and enjoy.
So as to complement the Grand Park Hotel indulgence that you enjoy in
all other areas of services, special pleasures are esrved up for your
palate. Every day you can select a 5-course meal and once a week a 7-course Gala
Dinner with culinary delights is going to make your evening a particular holiday
highlight. Master Chef, Franz Huick, lets his creativity run free, combines
novel and exotic ideas with old favourites, without going overboard. What marks
all meals are the quality ingredients used, the fact that they are based on the
time of year in question and the loving preparation - which becomes obvious in
the little details. In order to complement these culinary 'compositions', a
quality wine is a must. The wine bar contains select wines from all over the
world, but particularly from Austria.
The cosy but tasteful and elegant atmosphere of our restaurant provides the
perfect setting for a relaxed and enjoyable meal. Stress-free, casual and yet
still elegant that's the motto of the Park Restaurant, after all, you are on

food and international meals. Altogether this makes for a very tasty menu indeed
- the result is a diner's heaven!

An Unforgettable Summer Holiday in Austria A summer holiday in Gastein is a holiday for the senses. Enjoy the summer in
all its facets in the picturesque Gastein Valley.
The possibilities are almost unlimited. Enjoy the magnificent landscape,
wonderful nature and glorious sunshine. Under such conditions all outdoor
activities are a real feast.
Hiking is made easy, given the countless hiking paths and tours which
accommodate everything from a simple leisurely walk to the more serious hiking
excursion.
New challenges have to be mastered on a golf course that is a pleasure to the
eye and demanding in golfing terms. Sitting firm in your saddle and riding
through the breath-taking landscape with the warm summer wind blowing in your
hair - two riding stables with thoroughbreds are at hand to cater for your
riding needs. Action and adventure seekers are not left wanting either. Rafting
and Canyoning down wild mountain streams achieve the desired adrenalin rush. Or
fancy spreading your wings? Then take off with the paraglider and take a bird's
eye view of Gastein.
Mountain biking is, to all intends and purposes, a must in a mountainous
region. But less demanding cycling tours for the whole family are also part of
the programme. Nordic Walking is steadily gaining in popularity. The new craze
of walking with poles is taking over and is a great asset to the activities on
offer. You may even copy the legendary Wilhelm Tell: Archery requires strength,
concentration and coordination. A through and through 'target-oriented' sport!
As you can see - the summers are full of variety and of a sunny disposition!
The Winter Wonderland Comes True The cold winter months are the perfect time for a stay at our Hotel. When
it's snowing outside and the air is crisp and crackling cold, a visit to the
Grand Park SPA is even more enticing.
Enjoy the warmth of saunas, steam baths and the thermal spring water. The
feeling of well-being is so much more intense after a day in the snow.
Ski pistes for all skills levels with comfortable ski lifts are an invitation
for carving. Skiing gives an intense feeling of speed, body control and power.
The winter can be enjoyed in many different ways. Walk through the magic
winter landscape, don some snow shoes and leave a trail in the fresh snow.
Riding on a horse sleigh is very romantic and full of nostalgia - the classic
and magical way to enjoy a sophisticated winter evening. Follow the
cross-country ski track. Numerous tracks are waiting to be used - fasten your
cross-country skis and get going! For the evenings toboggan sleighing and great
alp hut parties are scheduled. Entertainment and fun are the inevitable
by-products, get to know the other guests and enjoy innocent childlike fun on
lit-up sleigh pistes. Winter in and around the Grand Park Hotel has something
for everyone, whether sporting activities or pure relaxation - a unique flair
and great atmosphere are part of the game!
Discover the Gastein Valley and its Surrounding Area During your holiday in Gastein you should definitely make time for some
excursions. The Salzburger Land is rich in sight-seeing and culture and full of
attractions.
The culture capital Salzburg is definitely well worth a visit. During the
pre-Christmas season you can visit the Christkindl Market, which is situated
right next to the Dome and gets you into a rather festive Christmas mood. Read
on to find out why Mozart's birthplace attracts visitors from all over the world
- it won't take too long to convince you too! Visit castles, go for a swim in
beautiful lakes or admire the unique countryside. The Salzburger Land has much
to offer in terms of nature, culture, leisure and entertainment.
In Bad Gastein you can try your luck in the Casino: let the dice role and put
your money on the winning number.
Situated right in the centre of the National Park, Bad Gastein's famous
landmark is its waterfall. The Gastein Ache plunges to a depth of 341 meters
over 3 steps.
In Werfen you can admire Europe's largest ice cave, called "Eisriesenwelt"
[world of ice giants]. A tour inside the mountain with huge stalactites and
stalagmites is a natural wonder. Unique, too, is the Gastein Heilstollen.
Breathe in deeply - the radon-rich air of the mountain's core is extremely
healthy. So, don't miss out - there's so much more to discover!
