The Ionian Islands (Eptanisa), is a dreamlike complex of lush,
dazzling islands scattered on the Ionian Sea. Spreading out on the western side
of Greece and part of Peloponnese.
The heavy rainfall the Ionians receive makes them among the greenest of Greek
island chains. In addition to tourism, cultivation of olives trees and vines still
play a role in its economy. The richly varied countryside and abundant beaches
draw large numbers of travellers with the spring being a particular favourite
for the lush greenery and wild flowers.
Like Odysseus, a traveller arrives on the Ionian islands to discover the age
of Europe with the Ancient Greek monuments, Venetian Fortresses, Byzantine
churches and neo classical mansions in harmony with a unique landscape whose
beauty has remained unchanged for thousands of years.
