In Wilayah Persekutuan province is Kuala Lumpur the federal capital of
Malaysia that achieved city status in 1972 and became Malaysia’ s first
Federal Territory in 1974. Kuala Lumpur was a tin mining centre in the late l8th
century when rich tin deposits were found in the Klang and Gombak Rivers. Kuala
Lumpur boasts od the world's tallest building as well as the world's longest
fully automated light rail transit system.
Wilayah Persekutuan has an equatorial climate with uniform temperatures
throughout the year ranging from 32°C during the day to 22°C during the night,
slightly cooler in the hill country. Rain is common throughout the year. Light
comfortable clothing is the norm with lightweight woollens required for highland
areas.
