History
The West-End was the first hotel built on the Promenade des Anglais
about 1840.
Formerly called The Victoria Hotel, it used to welcome rich winter
guests until the war 1914-1918.
Aristocrats and Princes found it more comfortable to settle down in a palace in
the South during the winter months.
Different personalities from the history have honoured the hotel with their
stay : The King of Saxe Frederick August (1858), Douglas the Duke of
Hamilton, The great Duke Constantin Nicolaievitch (1858) and many more.
