The Prefecture of Argolida is located in the eastern part of the
Peloponnese and the capital is Nafplion. Covering an area of 2,154 km2 and
is bordered by the sea on the east and south. The landscape is mainly
mountainous with the highest peak of Mount Kouroubalos 1,808 m.
To the south is the fertile plain of the Argos valley. The principal
occupation is agriculture with main products of the region being cereals,
vegetables, olive oil, fruit, grapes and raisins.
The region has small rivers, which flow south to the Gulf of Argolis where
Nafplion and an important port is located. Also an important centre of ancient
civilizations.
The climate is temperate and dry with mild winters.
