Informatie over Kos

Kos is the third largest island with a surface area of 290 km2 of the Dodecanese group, after Rhodes and Karpathos, situated between Kalimnos and Nissiros. A coastline length of 113 km. The land of Kos is fairly flat, the only peaks being Mount Dikaios of 875 m and Mount Sympatros of 846 m, the town of Kos is built within a valley and has an ideal climate.

There are many remarkable archaeological sites, the house dating back to the Roman era with fabulous mosaics, the Palace of the Knights of St John in the town of Kos, early Christian churches with their noteworthy frescoes. The Father of Medicine was born on this island and founded the Asklepeion.

The island also has many villages famed for their charm, quiet fishing villages and beaches.
