The island of Kithira is situated southeast of the Peloponese and
belongs to the Ionian Island group. The island is 120 nautical miles from the
Port of Piraeus and covers an area of 280 km2.
The island has 3,000 inhabitants. The stone house architecture and the
Venetian Fortresses remind of a Mani landscape painting. According to mythology,
Kythira was the birthplace of Aphrodite.
Kithira is a tourist attraction, mostly for its picturesque beaches, green
valleys and a multitude of flowers.
