Information about Santorini

The volcanic island of Santorini is one of the most beautiful islands of the Cyclades island group and one of the most popular islands of Greece.

Santorini is the fabled 'the legendary Atlantis' - The major eruption of the volcano in about 1450 BC caused the volcano to sink into the sea sending giant tidal waves and earthquakes, which wiped out the Minoan civilization of the island and of Crete. What now remains is an island cluster forming a ring around the volcano in its centre. The dramatic cliffs on the inner part of the main island of Thira (Santorini) are totally awesome. The archaeological site of Acrotiri is a testament to this dramatic event in its history.

The island is well-known for its natural beauty and spectacular sunsets over the Aegean Sea and the little white houses perched on the edge of the cliffs make it a popular choice for Honeymoons and romantic holidays.
