Πληροφορίες για την Αττική

The Prefecture of Attica (Attiki) is located in the eastern area of Central Greece and home to the capital city of Athens.

A peninsula bordered by the sea on three sides covering an area of 3,408 km2. The landscape is partially mountainous with three mountain peaks around the capital: Mount Pendeli, Mount Ymittos and Mount Parnitha, the highest peak of 1,413 m. The rest of the terrain is a plain with a mild climate and warm summers.

There are therapeutic springs with extensive curative properties in the region near the village of Methana, southwest of Piraeus.

The Prefecture of Attica is steeped in the history of Ancient Greece as it was the centre of the Ancient Greek civilization and has left the world an inheritance that became the basis for the later European civilizations. Today, these monuments are visited by countless people admiring its ancient glory and remainders of the past. Its monuments and its archeological sites attract the interest of visitors from all the world.

It has many beautiful coasts and villages where inhabitants and visitors go in search for an escape from the warm summer of Athens. Its position easily allows for excursions to all the islands of the Aegean Sea.
