Orebro Lan is said to be Sweden in miniature with plains in the south,
large forests in the north, water in the east and a mountain range to the west.
The capital of the region is the city of Orebro where the country's most
important roads of the Middle Ages met. The latter city became an important
trading centre and remained so for many years. Its attractive position makes
Orebro a diverse business region and an ideal location for conferences and trade
fairs.
Orebro has many interesting attractions and the most famous is the castle
dating back to the 13th century. It has a rich cultural life with the County
Theatre, the Swedish Chamber Orchestra in the Concert Hall, museums and
galleries. The Water Tower of Svampen is over 50 m, the top offers a fantastic
vista of Orebro. There is a chance to learn the skills of hunting, take a
mountain bike tour, go on moose safari in the Swedish wilderness or go by boat
to Stockholm.
Furthermore Orebro is a centre of knowledge relating to communication
disabilities with schools for the hearing impaired and the deaf.
