Gavleborg Lan was established in 1762 and is one of the most exciting
regions of Sweden offering a broad choice of activities and interesting places
to visit. Abundant in rivers, lakes, valleys, mountains, forests and the most
beautiful archipelago along the coastline.
The northern parts of the region have traditionally worked in agriculture,
forest and timber industries as well as culture and tourism. The southern region
is primarily occupied in the iron and steel industries as well as trade and
shipping.
The region has always been known for its handicrafts and there are few
provinces that have been able to retain their cultural traditions as Gavleborg
Lan. Folk music and dancing are very popular in the region with a dance show
that passes through cities and villages being a unique sight definitely worth to
be seen.
