California boasts of some extraordinarily diverse landscape—from
glaciated peaks to vast expanses of desert; In general, summers are hot, winters are mild and humidity is low. Offshore
breezes keep the beach communities of Los Angeles and San Diego cooler in summer
and warmer in winter than those further inland. from broad, sandy beaches to dense
redwood forests. It is home to numerous Federal and State parks and preserves
that highlight these varied scenic wonderlands. Extending along much of America's Pacific Coastline, California is one of the
country's most beautiful visitor destinations. More than anything, California is
recognized for its diverse landscape and great attractions. Visit the coastal
town of Eureka on the Redwood Coast, the vineyards of Mendocino County, Sonoma
County and Napa Valley, and stunning Mount Shasta. The capital city of
Sacramento is close to some incredible destinations throughout the Sacramento
Valley as well as the San Joaquin Valley in the south. In the High Sierras,
visitors can visit Yosemite, Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks. On the
border with Nevada, vacationers can play at the popular destination of Lake
Tahoe. Around San Francisco Bay, guests can visit Silicon Valley, Oakland and,
of course, the city of San Francisco. The Central Coast features many beach
resorts including Big Sur, Santa Cruz, Santa Barbara and Monterey. Los Angeles,
which is the most populous city in California and is located in the
southern half of the state. It is a great and very diverse city; from Hollywood
to East L.A. you can find every possible lifestyle represented in this
microcosm. San Bernardino and Orange County offer beaches, California skiing and
attractions such as Disneyland. Adjacent to Mexico, San Diego offers the San
Diego Zoo and numerous Mexican-themed attractions. The California Deserts
feature Palm Springs, Death Valley and the Mojave Desert.
The San Francisco Bay Area is home to the city of San Francisco, generally
seen as one of the coolest places on the planet; the liberal haven of Berkeley;
and Silicon Valley, home to a multitude of high-tech companies. The
wine-producing Napa Valley is a short distance to the north. The Central Coast runs between L.A. and San Francisco. It is a great area,
with Santa Barbara as its most important city. The coastline of the Cental Coast
is very beautiful, and very scenic. North of Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo has
maintained its old main street, famous for Farmers' Market on Thursday night. San Diego is located in the south of the state and offers good beaches and
water sports. There are many cool things to visit in San Diego such as Sea
World, Mission San Diego De Acala, the Wild Animal Park, and the World
Famous San Diego Zoo.Southern California is also known for it's theme parks, like Disneyland,
California Adventure, Knott's Berry Farm, Six Flags Magic Mountain, Universal
Studios, and many more. These places are very fun to visit, and continue bring
in tourists by the millions every year. On the other end of the climate spectrum, the redwood rainforests of the
North Coast are truly a sight to behold and offer a very different glimpse of a
beautiful state!
